Manchester led the Industrial Revolution to become Cottonopolis and clothed the world. The city has regenerated in recent years to become a vibrant and fascinating place to be. The exact tour content will vary but would typically include:

Manchester Town Hall

Beautiful neo-gothic architecture, completed in 1877 at the height of Manchester's success in the cotton industry. The Town Hall has been the location for many films and TV programmes, often acting as a double for the Houses of Parliament.

Lincoln Memorial

Hear the fascinating story of Manchester's link with Abraham Lincoln, and the abolition of slavery.

John Rylands Library

Built in memory of Manchester's first millionaire. The stunning library has a world class collection of books and manuscripts.

The Royal Exchange

Previously the Cotton Exchange, where Manchester merchants would meet and do business with each other. Now converted into a much- loved theatre.

Manchester Cathedral

Established in 1421 as the Collegiate Church, this is one of Manchester's oldest buildings. Highlights include the late medieval woodwork and stained glass windows. The Cathedral has an interesting range of events and concerts.

National Football Museum

No visit to Manchester is complete without a mention of 'the beautiful game'. Even for non-football fans, this building offers an architectural contrast to the Cathedral nearby, and has some very interesting displays.

Please note

The tour will operate every day, in any weather. Manchester has a variable (sometimes rainy!) climate so please come prepared. If weather conditions are particularly bad, we would usually spend more time inside buildings.

The tour is suitable for families, but very young children might not be as enthused by the fascinating facts being imparted by their tour guide.

The walking pace is slow and the total distance covered is not far (usually no more than 1 - 1.5 miles)

What do I need to bring?

A curious mind.

Cancellation policy

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 1 day or less before the event
